No ticket is required for children under 2 years of age who are in the arms of an accompanying adult.
On 3 September 2024, the ‘Transportation of the Macchina di Santa Rosa’ returns to Viterbo.
The transport of the ‘Macchina di Santa Rosa’ in Viterbo, a UNESCO Intangible World Heritage Site since 2013, is centred on the transport of a tower (the ‘Macchina’) about thirty metres high, weighing about fifty quintals and illuminated by the living light of many small flames.
The Macchina di Santa Rosa is carried on the shoulders of over one hundred brave men along a difficult route of over one kilometre.
On the evening of 3 September, it parades through the streets of the historic centre, renewing the traditional event, unique in the world, the same for more than seven hundred and fifty years.
The model of the Machine generally changes every five years, and this year sees the debut of the new structure called the ‘Dies Natalis’.
A fascinating and unmissable event along with the rest of the beautiful medieval city.
